NYCT CONEY ISLAND YARD COMPLEX LONG TERM FLOOD MITIGATION

The NYCT Coney Island Yard Complex Long Term Flood Mitigation project provided future flood protection to the complex. It also relocated traction power, communication, signal, control, and battery cables from their current underground locations to a new elevated steel truss system.​

  • Scope of Work:

    • Provide future flood protection to the Coney Island Yard Complex  

    • Relocating traction power, communication, signal, control, and battery cables from their current underground locations to a new elevated steel truss system. The steel truss system spans more than 4,500’ and will support more than 150,000’ of conduit and 375,000’ of cables for the various systems 

    • Install a negative buss duct system along the entire 4,500’ steel truss system  

    • Replace existing signal equipment with new submersible signal equipment and install approximately 25,000’ of messenger cable which will support communication and signal cable

    • Reinforce underground electrical duct bank and manholes
