TAP Electric is proud to highlight our work as a subcontractor to the Citnalta–Forte Joint Venture on the recently completed upgrades at Grand Central Terminal, delivered in partnership with the MTA. This project brought modern electrical and communication systems to one of New York City’s most iconic and busiest transit hubs.

Our team delivered a full range of electrical improvements, including new normal and emergency power distribution, advanced lighting and controls, and power for escalators, HVAC systems, AFC equipment, and all station communications. To keep daily operations running smoothly, we provided temporary power throughout construction while also completing ADA-focused electrical upgrades that strengthen accessibility across the station. We installed new fiber optic and copper networks to support voice and data, enhanced CCTV coverage, upgraded fire alarm and radio system interfaces, improved public address and emergency two-way communication systems, and delivered a new UPS power plant with redundant network equipment. These systems were fully integrated with the MTA’s WAN and existing management platforms to ensure long-term reliability and seamless operation.

Our work also supported key station enhancements, including refreshed Solari-style customer information displays, new lighting installations, coordinated piping and raceways, Help Point communication units, and all related power and communication infrastructure needed to bring these upgrades online.

One of the project’s major achievements was the successful replacement and commissioning of eight new escalators serving the 7 Line, each enhancing passenger flow and improving the rider’s experience.

TAP Electric is honored to have contributed to upgrades that strengthen the reliability, accessibility, and comfort of this landmark station.
